'It is the passion and the determination and the courage that sets Afghan Connection apart. Here is no wishful thinking, but direct action to bring girls into education in Afghanistan. This has already made a major contribution to the lives of those concerned, has given hope for the future in a country that cries out for hope, and positive action to go with it. Of course it is the dedication of Sarah and her inspired team that has brought this about. They need our support, all we can give, but more importantly, so do the young people of Afghanistan. Let us give them the chance, the life opportunities that they so earnestly need.'
Lord Iliffe - Donor and Patron
Having got to know about the work of the Afghan Connection a few years ago, it became abundantly clear to me of the amazing results that Dr. Sarah Fane and her very small and dedicated band of helpers have achieved in bringing education and in particular, education for girls, to so many children in Afghanistan. We have been delighted to support the work of AC through our family charitable trust.
Matthew Fleming - Donor, Patron and Chairman of Cricket at the MCC
As both a modest donor and as the Chairman of Cricket at the MCC I am thrilled to be able to recommend Afghan Connection and Sarah Fane unreservedly. One of the MCC’s key objectives is to support the development of cricket round the world. For a number of reasons we decided to support the development of cricket in Afghanistan and needed a partner whose values and commitment matched ours, whose expertise in creating and delivering sustainable yet essential projects was unmatched and who “got” the big picture in that remarkable country and how cricket could play a role in building a better future. In Sarah and Afghan Connection we found a perfect partner and we are thrilled to have extended our support for a further three years. To date we have built over 25 cricket pitches, qualified countless coaches and run camps for boys and girls all round Afghanistan. The impact has been beyond our wildest dreams.
Alice Philips - Headmistress of St. Catherines, Bramley, Twin School initiative.
"St Catherine's, Bramley, a girls' independent school in Surrey, is very proud to have supported Dr Sarah Fane and Afghan Connection for a decade. Initially we joined the school partnership programme and now we do all we can to assist with the school building projects. Our students - girls - are particularly engaged with the task of helping improve the education for their peers in Afghanistan. This makes this a special charity for us to support and over the years we have raised significant sums of money as well as engaging in dialogue with our partner schools. Our work with Afghan Connection is a way of life for us. We know we are part of an amazing initiative which will continue to provide a legacy in Afghanistan when UK troops withdraw."
